Any-fin is possible at Roxy Seafood. Owner Sam has been going swimmingly here for seven years, offering his ever-growing fleet of loyal customers the firmest and freshest fish.
Sam opened Roxy Seafood in 2018, choosing Roxburgh Village as the location because it’s fin-tastic. “It’s easy to communicate with my customers here. They speak my language – Kurdish, Arabic and Assyrian.”
Roxy Seafood sells premium quality fresh (and frozen) seafood, and offers cleaning and filleting of fish. Sam’s shoppers appreciate his high quality range and specialist knowledge, including tips on storage, preparation and cooking. He also supplies local hotels and restaurants.
This friendly fishmonger is often asked what’s in season (yes, seafood does have a season!), where the fish was caught and what he recommends. “I’m always ready to answer my customers’ questions,” says Sam.
Being a fishmonger is hard work that begins at 3am at the wholesale fish market. “Then I’m back to the shop to stock up and open for trade at 7am,” says Sam.
So what keeps him afloat? The support he receives from Roxburgh Village and the community of locals who continue to shop at his store.
